There are three different types of wild you'll see in this slot, all of which work in different ways, but work in harmony to provide access to the primary bonus feature. It’s a system you may have seen in other cutting-edge UK slots - all the symbols which make up a winning combination disappear after the win has been counted, and new replacement symbols will fall onto the reels from above to take their place.
The Basic Wild symbol, represented by a blue circle, functions in the way you’d expect a wild to function. It replaces any other symbol in the slot apart from another wild. It will also bring you a special key when it turns up, which will be stashed away for safekeeping over to the left of your reels.
The Sticky Wild is limited to appearances only on reel three, but it stays there after it lands, not even disappearing if it’s involved in a winning combination. As with the basic wild, it will give you a key, and that will also be stored over on the left.
The third wild is an Expanding Wild, which can show up anywhere apart from reel one, and will expand to fill up the whole reel it appears on. It also has a magic key to offer you, and that goes to the same place the other two did.
What makes collecting the keys difficult is that none of the wilds will ever appear during the base game. They can only fall in as replacement symbols during a collapsing wins sequence. You have to be on a roll to make all three varieties appear at once, and they have to appear in the same collapsing wins instance to make the keys valid - otherwise, they'll simply disappear on your next spin. This is easier to achieve when the number of rows expands - which they might at any time - therefore opening up the full complement of 3125 potential winning lines.
Stick around for long enough to claim your three keys, and they will unlock a Free Spins feature for you. Unconventionally, the number of free spins you'll get is connected to the number of rows in play when you trigger the feature. If you're still only playing with four rows, you'll have twelve free spins, and no multiplier applied to your winnings. If one or more of your reels have an additional row, that increases to fourteen spins with an x2 multiplier in place. If a third or fourth reel is expanded, that's worth sixteen spins with an x3 multiplier, and having all the reels expanded gets you eighteen spins at x4.
