Spartacus is so legendary a figure that some people aren’t even aware that he once really existed; like Robin Hood, and King Arthur, he’s become a legend, around which many myths have developed. The real Spartacus was every bit as impressive as the portrayals of him on the big screen have been, though. He really was once a slave, and he really did lead an uprising against Roman rule. He was also a great gladiator, and a skilled military tactician.
The Spartacus slot is a fitting tribute to the man; it's epic in scale. One one side of the screen, we have a 5x4 set of reels and rows, compressed tightly into a concentrated area to make room for the even-larger set of reels to the right. That's a massive 5x12 set, which WMS refer to as 'Colossal Reels' for obvious reasons. They'll spin of their own accord, but with so much action happening on both sets of reels, it's no wonder that WMS managed to pack in an impressive 100 way to win.
With so many reels and rows, it's only right that we have a good number of symbols to work with. Starting off with playing card symbols (clubs, spades, diamonds, and hearts) to represent the low values, we then move onto a warrior's sword, a battle helmet, a lion, two different gladiators, and finally Spartacus himself, who is quite rightly the most valuable of the basic symbols. All of the graphics are good-looking. When you combine the good looks with the sounds of battle raging in the background every time you spin, we're talking about an impressive and atmospheric creation.
The slot also comes with a wild and a scatter symbol. The wild, which is clearly labeled, replaces everything other than the scatter to complete winning combinations. Like all the other symbols it also stacks, which we’ll come back to in a moment. The scatter is represented by an image of the Colosseum, and is also the key to kicking off one of this slot’s bonus features.
Game Features
Despite being a few years old (Spartacus first hit the internet in 2013), this slot still has a strong range of bonuses for players to look out for. That starts with the Stacking Symbols. All of the symbols on both sets of reels have a habit of stacking up in volume when they appear, which can make winning combinations both easier to find and more valuable.
The wild also stacks, but if you can get it to cover one whole reel on the left-hand side of the screen, that stacked reel will also be replicated on the equivalent reel on the right, and expands to fill all twelve rows. That means that any wild reel automatically becomes two wild reels, and that should really see you make some money when it happens.

By far and away our favorite part of this slot is its generous Free Spins feature. Because there are two different sets of reels, there’s plenty of scope to find scatter symbols. WMS Gaming is a name that dates back to the earliest days of slot games, and bar games in general.
